Joy is a NZ Registered Occupational Therapist who has spent her career in paediatrics, working with children in various settings from special needs, learning support units, mainstream schools and rehabilitation services. She has supported children to access learning with assistive technology, adaption of curriculum and with transitioning children back to school after brain injuries.
Joy’s interest is working with kids on foundational/underlying skills for school readiness and participation, fine motor and handwriting skills to increase success in school settings. Joy has experience understanding a child’s sensory processing needs and how they may have an impact on a child’s life. She is committed to working with the family, and clinically observing the child in their school setting to ensure that she gets the full picture of the child’s needs to shape effective therapy. Joy has completed a postgraduate paper in handwriting practices for children.
Joy has 3 children of her own so understands the juggle of family life and the importance of ensuring each child is supported to thrive and reach their potential.
